I think there are quite a few hearing impaired people on the list, myself included I wear 2 hearing aids. Re Jaws voices I am not sure that if you have a version of Jaws that is relatively recent that you can any longer access the eloquence voices for NVDA. I think the build changed to prevent this sort of thing in version 7 or about then. This was certainly what was reported on the NVDA list I used to belong to. . However what you can definitely do is access the eloquence voices if you have Kurzweil 1000 version 11 installed. The voices are under the speech works label but they are the familiar eloquence US and UK English voices including Reed etc. If you do not have Kurzweil you could try installing it and running it in 30 day demo mode. I think you will need a CD for this. This may give you permanent access to the voices - I am not entirely sure.
To change voices in NVDA you need to do a 2 stage process. 1. Go to preferences and synthesizer and change this to SAPI 4. Next go to the preferences again and now select voices. You will find the familiar Reed Glen Shelley Justin voices listed there. When you say I can get the jaws voices to work with NVDA the thing is how can I do this? 2. You mentioned that you have fiddled around with espeak voices. Can you tell me what voices you like using names, us or UK, pitch etc. Thanks Daniel -------------------------------------------------- From: "Dane trethowan" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, October 01, 2011 10:57 AM To: "Techno-Chat ...
