Hello Dane I believe it was Gordon who pointed this out to you about the tracking and session cookies issue in the first place. But you're absolutely right, Eset doesn't even come close to a full security system for that reason. I am given to understand that cookies are amongst the most dangerous pieces of malware you could have on your system because they are platform-independent and they can sneak in through the back door and your browser wouldn't know them from any other cookies. That's what I've been given to understand anyway.
As for Vipre, we have a license for the enterprise version but it never worked for us. So we'll be looking at it but we'll be very very careful before we buy. I too! have an Eset licence however I will not be renewing it this year, the software doesn't scan for cookies and actually its known that the people at Eset don't think tracking cookies a serious enough issue to be concerned with so I've ditched Eset and switched to Vipre Anti Virus Premium. The "Premium" edition has everything most people would want including a thorough security scan which includes spyware and cookies, excellent firewall and is more accessible than Eset has ever been though Eset isn't as bad as some of the other offerings out there such as F-Secure which I used for a while. Like Eset there is no difference in performance of machines whilst Vipre is running and Vipre like Eset scans code in the background so you only know that the Anti Virus software is running if it requires your attention for one reason or another. 1 subscription fee allows you to put Vipre Anti virus on as many computers as you require, there's also a "Lifetime" subscription which I will be investigating myself. Your subscription entitles you to free newsletters if you wish to use them, one is a Security Newsletter which talks about the latest threats, scams, personal stories from Vipre users etc. The other is a Windows Newsletter which talks about how to fix problems with Windows and so on, 2 very worthwhile publications for reference at least in my view. ======================================= The Techno-Chat E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free To modify your subscription options, please visit for forum's dedicated web pages located at http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/techno-chat You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Techno-Chat group at either of the following websites: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/techno-chat/index.html Or: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
