There are a number of cranky aspects to that device,
assuming it works at all. The idea of having to put something in my
mouth to "see" something is fraught with unpleasant possibilities.
Yes, the tongue is loaded with nerve endings so it
makes sense they would design it this way but several things
give me pause.
One would have to be fastidiously clean at all times
since this thing probably is constantly being put in and
removed. It would most likely interfere with speech and, if
there is a cable coming from the camera, that cable would always
have to be also kept scrupulously clean as it would be a great path
for bugs of all kinds to get in to our mouths.
I am not even that paranoid about germs but the path of
microbes in to our mouths by contact with the world is
well-documented.
As for the iGlasses, that sounds like the best design to
relay information about pending head smacks I have heard of yet
as they do not involve one's ears. I hope they work well. Please
keep us informed. You'll note I got the spelling right on the
iGlasses this time.
