So I discovered.  I also found that the Insert key was still used for some 
commands with the Laptop layout.  But I've changed now to Desktop.

Before she left for the camping expedition which she's now on which, I might 
add, has been extended and will now end a week on Monday, Lynne gave me a brand 
new copy of Office Professional 2010 licensed for 2 PC's.  I haven't yet had 
time to install that but hope to do so today.

Press insert f2 and s to go to settings center. In the search field you can 
type keyboard. Perhaps one of the settings got changed there.
