Hi Cliffe Well, I'll have to wait and see what happens when I reinstall Jaws. My Windows machine did what all Windows machines do occasionally, crashed and threw not only the dummy, but all of the toys out of the pram! So, I've just had to go through the tedious process of reinstalling Windows, upgrading it to Windows 7 Ultimate via my Anytime Upgrade product key which wouldn't activate so I had to call Microsoft and walk through that tedious process. I'm still in the process of putting all of the software back on to that system, including Jaws and all of the SAPI voices. It really is a tedious process which I never ever want to have to go through again. So this time, I make a Samsung Backup utility backup, as well as doing all the rest of it. I was trying to fix the registry but, as fast as I fixed one problem, something else would break and I had to fix that and then something else would break and I had to fix that and … you get the general idea.
Anyway, thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. When you tab to Voice Person you should then see all your Sapi 5 voices there, so for example on my system all the scansoft voices plus neo speech voices are listed here. Subject: RE: Jaws Progress 1. voices You can use any Sapi 4 or 5 voices with Jaws. Press jaws plus J to open preferences. Then Option then voices. Here you have voice adjustments and voice profiles. go to voice adjustment and select the synthesiser and voice you want. I think you have to tell it to look if you want a Sapi 4 voice but I do not think you will be using these . You can set up rate etc here as well. You can either save this voice adjustment as default or as a profile. The benefit of saving different profiles is that they are then available instantly to select with Jaws control and S. You can also attach profiles to applications if you want but I do not bother with that. 2. Reading around the screen Using Jaws cursor simply use cursor keys to read around the screen. Jaws numpad minus routes Jaws cursor to Pc cursor . I cannot remember the laptop equivalent. Insert up arrow reads the current element. Jaws R toggles various screen restrictions, I normally have this either set to window or unrestricted. Subject: Jaws Progress Hi all Well, I never thought I'd see the day when I would say this, but I have to admit that I quite like some aspects of Jaws 13. What I cannot quite get to work is moving around the screen area with Jaws. It doesn't seem to be that if I press Insert+cursor keys, it reads. I would have expected it to do that. I do have one question though. I have some SAPI5 voices installed on my system, but when I try and change voices Jaws simply isn't seeing them. They are not tied to any screen-reader. So, the question is why isn't Jaws seeing the voices? I hate that Eloquance trash! Gordon <--- Gordon Smith ---> This message was written using 100 Percent recycled electrons.
