This concept was tried, and ultimately dumped over here because of the problems 
David highlights.  We’re talking here about people trying to network their 
homes via the AC supply system.  The original idea was to have adapters which 
one plugged into the AC outlets, and the networking adapters then talked to the 
computers via a standard LAN interface.  The system was, as I said, extensively 
tried about 20 years or so back and it was ultimately dumped.
