Doug,
     It sounds like you may have the right router/switcher, what is make/model of your 
"Hub?".  As far as the long run, you have to wire a different way many times to make 
it work.  Color code, same at both ends, :-), Wor,Or,Wgr,Bl,Wbl,Gr,Wbr,Br.
