Joe,
There is much information I am sure, archived at www.google.com
Here is the latest one I had(below)...though this was for a shutdown problem. Your
customers set may be
shutting down and they don't know it.
Be prepared to bring the light box with you.
Tritronics repair kit is good, if the problem is the splitter..but then again, only if
it is shutting
down.
Removing the lead from the splitter, if the set fires up, bad splitter.
My suspect is the power supply kit took out the main fuse..if the set is really dead.
You need to ask the
customer if the set has been worked on before to get an idea as what may have been
replaced.
Add to this list the CR4118 mentioned and take one of those, just in case and a 5 GMA
fuse.

I'll send you one of my invoices that has all these parts on it.. There are some other
caps in the
circuit, but you can use generics..I use RCA for the ones listed in the group I am
sending you.

1. First, the HV block was arcing at the Flyback lead.
2. Planned to replace the power supply parts, since this set had the original
parts...replaced them all.
3. Replaced flyback..old one rang good, but had a pin hole 18 months ago I covered
with HV putty.
4. Replaced CR4118..tested fine.
5. Replaced the power supply parts again, assuming I had a bad part.
6. After the last bout of suggestions, found the resonator area looked a little damp.
Unsoldering, I could
smell it...replaced resonator and the cap beside it.
7. Removed CR4119, CR4120(I think)..sit right below the power supply transformer,
beside each other. These
two had definite leakage.
8. Now, all the wave forms in the power supply looked fine and micro voltages were
fine. This is when I
saw where the real audio board was.
9. Removed both connectors and set fired up fine. Replaced the one(leaving J1903 off)
and set still fired
up.
10. Checked both IC on the heat sink and found one shorted 1 and 4..comparing to the
other one I knew this
wasn't right.

Hi All,
I have a service call coming up and I realize this is a common problem
on a common chassis and there are numerous repair tips. I'm hoping I can
get some replies to the exact model and chassis above. Thanks "joe"
