RCA P52731WK
Ch.# PTK-169PGB
Totally Dead as though not even plugged in (per cust).

I had posted this earlier and shortened the thread a bit to keep
confusion down.

I was asking about the kits from Tritronics for rebuilding this chassis.
I have that all squared away with Kevin @ Tritronics

Jeff, In re: to what you said:
"You need to ask the customer if the set has been worked on before to
get an idea as what may have been replaced".

I brought lite box in, already had that set up with cust. I was planning
on using the kit until i realized after bringing unit in and talking
with cust that this unit was worked on before he moved here.

What I was referring to as a PTK-169PGB chassis was replaced with a
CTC-169GB chassis. I now realize after talking with Tony @
Tri-statemodule they are interchangeable, but there are some
discrepancies in the layout of this chassis vs the small schematic
diagrams that come with the set.

(1) CR4116 is reversed as far as (cathode-anode). Small schematic shows
opposite of what it is in the CTC-169GB, that pretty much halted me
right there. I did check CR4118 per usual it checks ok. Also schematic
shows (CR4118) in set its (CR4118U) & schematic shows (CR4116U) in set
its (CR4116).

To top things off I didn't bring custs remote but i'm pretty sure I have
my universal programmed correct for this set.
Unit is totally dead, all suggested checks as far as CR4118 checks ok,
surrounding diodes check ok, fuse ok. removed the lead from the
splitter, no go.

The kit Kevin has set up for me is as follows:

=================================
Flyback-(226094)
Fuse-(175425)
C4101-(146179)
C4102-(195691)
C4104-(214756)
C4108-(208002)
C4145-(190721)
C4401-(206007)
C4402-(214754)
CR4118-(164590)
CR4401-(242907)
CR4402-(243636)
Q4101-(200165)
Q4401-(200167)
U4101-(200419)
=================================

I am sending Kevin a copy of this to see if the parts are going to match
up. I do think that the Fly and rest of kit will fix if parts are the
same.

Any thoughts out there, will graciously accept any assistance and all
replies...

Thanks & sorry for the long post "joe"

Hi All,
I have a service call coming up and I realize this is a common problem
on a common chassis and there are numerous repair tips. I'm hoping I can
get some replies to the exact model and chassis above. Thanks "joe"

Joe,
There is much information I am sure, archived at www.google.com Here is
the latest one I had (below)...though this was for a shutdown problem.
Your customers set may be shutting down and they don't know it.

Be prepared to bring the light box with you. Tritronics repair kit is
good, if the problem is the splitter..but then again, only if it is
shutting down.

Removing the lead from the splitter, if the set fires up, bad splitter.
My suspect is the power supply kit took out the main fuse..if the set is
really dead. You need to ask the customer if the set has been worked on
before to get an idea as what may have been replaced. Jeff Dougherty
