I've never used Pootle, so I can make no comparison. In fact, I only used Rosetta as far as making sure I understood how it worked. Assuming the GUI for Pootle is so much better (although at a quick look, it seemed very similar), the only possible advantage I can see for Launchpad is that the larger userbase might get things done faster.
