Thank  you.  Now that I've downloaded the bugfix version of xslz20.pfb
--  which  I  could  swear  I'd done long ago, but evidently never got
round  to  after  all -- Acrobat Reader 5 does display the ties in the
score when generated with dvipdfm.

I  notice  that  the  file  size  decreases  quite dramatically when I
generate  the  PDF  with  dvipdfm -- it comes out as just over 320K as
against  480-odd  via  dvips  and GSView. However, for some reason the
Palatino  Narrow font I use to indicate fret numbers in my barre chord
macros comes out as italic in the dvipdfm-processed file.

PDF happens...
