I'm struggling mightily with the musixdoc that will accompany musixtex
version T.113. There are various items in there that either completely
outdated (e.g. Taupin's FTP site), or of dubious value, (e.g., discussion of
compatibility with MusicTeX). However, not wanting to get involved in a full
editing job, I'm adopting a rather laissez-faire approach. But I would like
to insert notices warning readers where they could be led astray. One such
item concerns building a format file, on which Daniel went into considerable
detail. I've never built a special format file for MusiXTeX and I seem to
get along fine. Is there now, or has there ever been any good reason for
going to the trouble of building a special format file for MusiXTeX?

It would be great if someone would volunteer to fully edit this document. I
realize it's a huge job...that's why I'm not doing it. But I'm afraid novice
users could get really confused by some of the stuff in there. If any
potential editor wants to look at the source as it stood before I started
