Many thanks for your help. It ist much clearer now what to do. I am alreacy using OzTeX as TeX driver so I had to learn that musixflx is
a terminal application. Doing some first experiments with the example
files I got the following error message:

[Chajims-PB:~/musixcmfolder] chajim% musixflx nonmoriar

<<< musixflex 0.83/T.63dt+jh.2 >>>

... decoding command line ... open <nonmoriar.mx1> for input ...
testing versionnumber

!!! Wrong version !!!

1musixflx : 0.83

!!! Can't go on !!! [Chajims-PB:~/musixcmfolder] chajim%

It is not clear to me what can be done to solve this problem so I
hope I may ask you for further help.

musixflx 0.83 is the most recent version. This version works for me on my OSX laptop. I've compiled the musixflx c-source once more and uploaded the OSX binary as http://icking-music-archive.org/cmo/outgoing/musixflx

Try that binary and see if it works for you. You may also consider compiling the c-source yourself. It comes with the musixtex zip distribution (in the directory /system). You need to have a c compiler (eg. GNU gcc) installed on your OSX station in order to compile the c-source.
