Hi Don,

Looks like this is not a bug, but a feature ;-). As I wrote in the manual:

... anything with ID <10 is breaked fully automatically, but
you should be careful about the slurs, ties and crescendos with 10
   <= ID < 15.
These can not go acress PAGE break, otherwise you'll get a
   PostScript error
like 's11hgt undefined'. Of course the LINE breaking works for them
   automatically too.

There are several workarounds:
1. It shouldn't be necessary to use tie ID 10 in this case, maybe there is some glitch in ID allocation within PMX. 2. Break the tie manually - close it at the end of bar 4 and reopen it in bar 5. 3. Increase the \max@slurs for this piece and allocate the necessary registers for crescendos, i.e. \newdimen\cresc@altx etc.

Hope this helps,

Stanislav.

No. But I don’t know about the indices. You should be able to view psprob22.ps where you’ll see the hairpins. Bars/page are 0,3,4 . In psprob33.ps, I think it’s 0,2,2,3. So p.3 to p.4 is bar 4 to 5, where there are 4 hairpins, all of which started on p.2.

It could be, thanks. Do you have more than nine hairpins going from page 3 to 4?

    Hi Don,

Acrobat does not produce any error log, have you got anything
    useful from GhostScript?

    Stanislav.

        Hi, Stanislav—

psprob33.ps is bad, psprob22.ps works in gsview. All that
changed was the numbers of pages and systems, from 3,3 to 2,2.

        Hi Don,

could you send me the PS file?

        Stanislav.

        Don Simons napsal(a):

Can anyone figure out why the attached file leads to a
postscript error (in ghostview) on the 3^rd page? (I know
why the first page is blank and have a solution for that.)
If you change it to 1 page and 1 system, the error goes
away. If you go 7 pages and 7 systems, the error is on the
            3^rd page.

FYI, this came about while I was working with Dieter
Gloetzel as he hones XML2PMX. We found some examples that
are very challenging both for XML2PMX and for PMX. The one
this came from has 14 instruments. After making some mods
to PMX, and correcting numerous small bugs in the pmx file
from XML2PMX (which Dieter is addressing), so far I’ve
managed to produce a workable result with 51 pages and 254
bars. Something in the attached file is keeping me from
            going further.
