RE: [Texascavers] Mexican TravelWe just drove from Reynosa to Chetumal. We had no problems, crossed a few military checkpoints, and arrived safely in Belize this morning. Situational awareness is always a concern where ever and whenever you travel.

I just read an excellent column from an author who lives in Mexico addressing the gringo's attitude towards drug violence south of the border. One line in his piece really struck home: All of us here are scared of the drug violence, and yet most don't take it personally. Ordinary citizens feel that this situation barely affects them. Bad things happen to other people ... over there.
