I'd like to poll the CaveTex-ers here as to their opinion and the merits of Grutas de Palmito versus Carlsbad Caverns, i.e,. size of the rooms, formations, ease of getting there, and the all-around "Wow!" factor, etc.

In other words, how do they compare and contrast?

I think Carlsbad is probably higher on the wow! factor (and better lit), but it's a commercial cave in a National Park, so unless you get on a work trip and off the tourist trail, you can't really experience it like you can Palmito. Of course Carlsbad is easier to get to, but that also takes some of the fun out of it. :-) In Palmito you can basically do what you like (please cave responsibly!), so from a caver's perspective it is a more interesting experience.

        My two cents.
