Don is the best.

In 1989, I severely injured my eye at the rigging point of the first pit in
Cueva Cuchillo.

Lots of cavers came to help me once they realized I was injured.

Don sat patiently near me most of the night in the guest-house.

Ironically, all I can remember about that event is that I had real
pain-killers in my first-aid kit, next to me and I was in too much shock to
remember I had them, and so instead I spent the night in agony.

The crazy thing, is that I did not get to the eye-doctor for 2 weeks and he
could not find anything wrong.

I do not even remember which eye it was.

I am pretty sure I never used carbide-lamps ever again.

I have been in a couple of El Abra caves.

In the town of El Abra, there is a large palapa by the road. 20 years ago
an elderly Mexican lady used to sell delicious "carnitas," - the best I
ever had.

There are likely cave passages waiting to be discovered still. Has anyone
seriously dug any leads in the El Abra ?
