Mine came in last week and I have already about 17 hours of game time
in. Too much fun.

It has all the spirit of 1 and 2, but it is like Elder Scrolls:
Oblivion. First person/RPG. Some folks did not like how they changed
that from 1 and 2, but I think it works very, very well.

There are so many ways to play a character...good,evil,science
only, stealthy and deadly, guns blazing, melee only, and so on. On the
Penny Arcade boards there were folks talking about playing through
without using any Stimpaks( health) and only getting health from sinks
and toilets that you drink from ( which also give you radition).

I have only scratched the surface of the main story, but it is solid.
There is much to do, so many places to explore ( one of the cities is
actually an old aircraft carrier) and so many quests to or not to
do...the choice is yours.

It is not a fast paced FPS...When you do get into battles, they are
exciting and fun. But you do a lot of walking and exploring and
questing and finding stuff to use later on ( to make better weapons
and stuff).

Bioshock is a good comparison, but so is Half-Life 1 and 2. Just think
of those games with A LOT of RPG elements to them, and you have
Fallout 3.

And the Super Special Amazon edition that came with the lunchbox,
Vault-Boy bobblehead, artbook AND Pip-Boy 3000 clock ( that you can
wear on your wrist if you find a way to strap it down and not run into
anything with it) was freakin worth it. But just the game itself for
$60...I say it is a buy.
