Saw it this afternoon:

The ending makes sense in that it's a natural extension of Viedt's plan, to
unite the world against a common enemy, but would probably fail in that SO MUCH
is made of the fact that Dr. Manhattan is American.? God exists and he is
American, etc.? He's the American weapon, and he blew up six - eight cities. An
American city was one of them, but so what?? 1 out of eight aint bad.? So, in
the long-term the "fallout" would be anger/resentment at the US, and the whole
cycle would begin a new.? Not a long term solution.

The squid aint a perfect ending, but it has no political affiliation.? So, I'm
with Todd here.

plan work?

I think as soon as they realized that he was gone, the effect would be over..?
That's one thing I liked about the original ending.? If everyone thinks there's
this super intelligent alien race out there, you're damn right we're gonna come
together and do everything we can to protect ourselves.

On a side note, that's one of the things I hate about Stargate.? I like to
think if there was the possibility of an alien attack the US would contact all
other countries and form some sort of alliance.? They kept it hidden until
other countries found out.
