I plan on getting a kindle touch. I just want an ereader and don't care for a 
tablet right now. I agree with ed, wait for consumer reviews to flood out 
before investing.

My iPad is wifi only but it hasn't been a hindrance. Everyone has wifi 
available, and it takes minutes to sync all your content- I've had a full novel 
come over via the kindle app in about 20 seconds at home. 
I've read that the web browsing experience on the kindle is awful. No idea if 
that expends to the fire. My significant other wants the kindle touch; the 
color isn't as important as the longer battery life of the traditional version 
(and she isn't interested in the apps).
