Try running the lightweight battery all the way to 0% and see whether it's
going to accept the charge once completely drained.

Also, check the Lenovo's website whether the particular FRU is under recall,
since some of the X6x series batteries were...

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

Subject: [Thinkpad] "plugged-in, not charging"

Hi all,

I have an X61s/Vista. I usually run it with the lightweight battery, and for
the occasional trip I swap over to the larger battery.

I just returned from such a trip, and all of a sudden the lightweight battery
won't seem to charge at all -- the battery icon just keeps showing the same
percent, and says: "plugged-in, not charging."

As a test, I swapped back to the larger battery, which seemed to take a charge
as normal -- so I'm guessing the problem is with the lightweight battery,
rather than with the X61s' ability to charge.

Is there anything I can do to "awaken" the lightweight battery?

Thanks, -Scott
