Recently the power stopped working on my T61 8897-CTO. I was using the laptop on my lap one evening, and when I finished I noticed that the power icon below the LCD was not lit (running on battery power). I assumed that the power adapter had become disconnected from the wall outlet and disregarded it. I suspended the system. The next time I wanted to use the laptop, I connected the AC adapter and noticed that the power icon was again not lit. The computer was still suspended, but it had been a few days and the battery was almost empty. The system would not resume (battery too low?), so I held the power button until it powered off. After that, with a power button press, the system will power on and start to boot, but will not run long enough to boot the operating system because the battery needs charged.
The AC adapter tests 20V across the inside and outside of the plug's barrel. I have removed the battery, Ultrabay CD/DVD module, the hard disk, and the memory modules. The keyboard and keyboard bezel are removed and the power connector test 20V across the reds and blacks (What is the blue?). Still, the power icon will not light and the system will not boot without the nearly-exhausted battery. Any hints? Thanks. _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
