You can extend the warranty on your T61 even though it is currently out
of warranty. It will cost somewhere around $150 for one year of depot
service.

The warranty status page claims it is not. I did not spend any extra
on warranty when I purchased the T61. I prefer to take good care of a
product and save the extra. If I brake something then warranty
probably won't cover it; if it breaks spontaneously then it seems
weird to pay them to fix their problem... of course I do have to pay
them for the part regardless.
