OK I see now -- you actually have to slide the VLC icon to
crash into the edge of the LCD and then it appears on
the TV.

It is working now but there is a further detail you did not
warn me of: the video stream must be flowing as you crash
it into the LCD edge.  If you start the video fter the 
crash, it will not appear on the TV.

Another problem has now developed from this -- see next mesage

Press the keyboard combination needed to turn off the S-video output. Then, 
right click on the
desktop, go to properties, and details. Click the gray monitor and check " 
extend the windows
desktop onto this monitor". Click apply. Now, you should be able move the VLC 
window to the side
