Is it only that one router that you can't connect to? If so, are you using Access Connections?
I had a T40 - with possibly the same wifi card as your X30 - which could not connect to a particular router when using Access Connections, even after manually configuring the connection settings in AC, but connected perfectly turning off AC and letting Windows manage the connection. The router was using WPA, so I don't think the X30's wireless card has a problem with WPA per se.
