Thanks for all the responses, it seems that XP is the way to go.

This is an ocassional use machine to learn Graphicalc so I don't want
to by a newer machine.

I've ordered another 512 Mb of RAM from Amazon for $39 plus shipping
and I even found some burned XP recovery disks for the T23 that one
of you was kind enough to send me years ago...

So i put in the recovery disk and "IBM Product Recovery program
version 5.6" comes up and offers "Full recovery: Reformat your hard
dsik and install Windows XP, device drivers and preinstalled
applications"

It warns me that all data on the hard drive will be lost so I enter Y

Sometimes I get a Win 2K splash screen but eventually the recovery
program runs through a bunch of white text, expanding and inflating a
bunch of stuff.
It asks for disk 2 so i put that in and it inflates more stuff before saying
"Remove any diskettes or CDs from the drives and press Enter to restart"

But when it restarts I get WIN2K with my old user account and desktop.

So are the recovery disks no good or is it operator error?

Thanks again
