After some fiddling around I've got the XP restore disks to work. In the beginning the XP restore disk wouldn't run, it didn't even get as far as formatting the drive. There was some issue with the hard drive format, when I booted from a DOS 6.22 floppy and ran fdisk I only got 2 Gb, seem to recall that's all that DOS could see... What to do? The XP restore disks went along with DOS and insisted it was a 2 Gb drive. In the end my old WIN98 install CD was able to run FDISK and get the whole 30 GB drive to show. Then the XP restore disks worked and all was well. Glad I had saved that old WIN98 disk......
