BTW, don't send people out to find a Dixons because they are long gone.
I was only reporting on my experiences in the 80s. They were never the first choice for electrons accessories anyway; overpriced.
Incidentally, the advantage of buying either a cord or a plug adapter in the UK instead of the US is the fuse (which does not exist on US plug adapters). The little extra layer of safety probably doesn't accomplish anything, but it can't hurt.
