If the status light is red and then becomes green after pushing
a button, then I think it's safe to say that the dock is logically
disconnected from the thinkpad. I would think that everything
that you used that came from the dock is gone now.
This is correct. It is the equivalent of ejecting using the systray icon.
You'll see similar behavior when trying to remove a drive from the
ultrabase: when you do the first part of the undock, it will try to do
system undock (and inform you of the result on your screen (if you have such
popups turned on).
