If the only video out type on your laptop is the SVGA port you're
probably going to need some type external adapter to connect to HDMI,
because SVGA is analog and HDMI is digital. That could come in the form
of a video converter box or a docking station/port replicator.
SVGA-to-HDMI cables do exists, but beware that they would not work
unless the laptop had a mode to send digital signals through the SVGA
port (unlikely for a Thinkpad).
