DVI to HDMI cable to connect that to TV without any more hardware?

You have two options. Some TVs have a PC input that can take a VGA
cable that your T400 does have. Another option is a docking station
that has a DVI output.
The T400 apparently has no digital video output. The T500 does as
does the T420 that I am working on right now.
