I just followed the instructions and it worked perfectly for me. I didnt have to adjust anything on the web.

Have you copied it out exactly as its written. pop3.live.com the dot between pop3 and live is important, in your message you dont have it. Plus you spelt life not live.

Maybe that might be the problem.

John.

I hope you didn't send them your username and password, cause
pop3life.com looks like a phishing address to me.

I use the MS Live website.

*_Hotmail POP settings:_*

*Server:   *pop3.live.com*
UserName:   *<your full hotmail address goes here>*
Security Settings:   *SSL  (when you pick that, the Port setting up
above should change to 995)*
*
_*Hotmail SMTP settings:
*_*(under Outgoing Server account)*
*
Server name:   *smtp.live.com*
Port:   *25*

Check the box to: *Use name and Password*

UserName:   *<your full hotmail address goes here>*

Use secure connection: *TLS, if available*

*------------------------------

That should set you up and have you working!!

Hi,

I was trying to figure out how to get hotmail messages to Thunderbird
with the new Pop3 when I came across your post. I got it to work
following these instructions. Hope this helps.

http://blogs.howtogeek.com/mysticgeek/2009/03/16/how-to-add-hotmail-t...

The only problem I had after following this tutorial is: I went into
account settings, and under server settings, i just used my name,
whereas, it should've been **[email protected].

So again, tutorial seems straightforward enough (I too tried other
tutorials without any luck, so this should definitely help you).

By the way, the Pop3 is great, with webmail, it took a few minutes
just to download a few messages, and if they had attachments,
sometimes thunderbird would crash. But now, it only takes 2-3 seconds
to download 10 emails. Its great!!

Good luck.
