Hi Recently, I've been having severe difficulties with TB running extremely slow, lockups when composing emails and general non- responsive behaviour. TB start-up can be up to 85 seconds. Navigation through menus, folders and messages is slow and TB shows heavy CPU usage, making other applications slow. Through some testing today, I think I've narrowed down to the Yahoo extension as being the culprit, although I could be wrong.
I'm running TB 2.0.0.23 on Windows XP Pro. Extensions Mozilla Talkback 2.0.0.9 WebMail 1.3.3 WM-Gmail 0.6.4 - set to check mail on startup and then every 2 minutes WM-Hotmail 1.2.24 - set to NOT check mail on startup and then every 60 minutes WM-Yahoo 1.4.6 - set to check mail on startup and then every 3 minutes Xpunge 0.3 I have TB checking one account for each service, ISP, Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. 4 email accounts with their associated folders, 3 of which are handled by WebMail. There is nothing in the error console other than normal startup messages from Xpunge. My server settings have been as noted for months with no issues. Other than updating the WebMail versions as they've been posted, I've made no other changes. This seems to have begun with the latest batch of updates for WM-Yahoo. I have manually compacted all folders and deleted and recreated all indexes. Testing. Opened TB in Safe Mode. It open with no hesitations and checked the ISP POP account. All folders and messages were instantly accessible. Everything loaded quickly. I disabled all extensions and restarted TB normally. Same behaviour as running in Safe Mode (no surprise). Began testing startup with various combinations of existing extensions disabled/ enabled. Enabling only Xpunge and Talkback resulted in startup times equaling Safe Mode. They don't seeem to be a factor but I have tested both with the various combinations of WebMail. At no time, did having them enabled/disabled seem to make any difference. Naturally, enabling WebMail did result in slower startup times, that's to be expected, but all other TB behaviour was normal. However, the real difference came with enabling the WM-Yahoo extension. Startup times almost doubled and navigation between menus/folders/messages slowed dramatically. Leaving WM-Yahoo as the only extension DISABLED resulted in TB running about as normal as expected. I re-enabled WM-Yahoo but changed the server settings so not to check Yahoo on startup. That makes a difference. Startup was quick and menu/ folder/message navigation was quick. However, when it came time for TB to check Yahoo for messages, the slow behaviour remanifested itself and continued. Could it be there is some buffer that is not releasing? Or a loop that is not exiting properly? As I mentioned earlier, this behaviour started with the last version or two of YM-Yahoo. I was running the various betas before 1.4.6 and I don't recall exactly when it started. I thank you very kindly for your time. I hope I've narrowed this sufficiently and not leading you on a wild goose chase. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Thunderbird Webmail Extension" group.
