I have the Yahoo and Hotmail (and GMail) Webmail extensions and XPunge (plus a couple of others). On first opening it takes about 5 seconds to open Thunderbird (for the 16 active email accounts I use - a mix of POP and IMAP). Opening again soon after that is just about instant. I have been using the Webmail extensions for years and have never seen such a delay in Thunderbird.
Have you checked the size of your Thunderbird files .... are you keeping large amounts of data in Thunderbird? Do you compact your Thunderbird folders regularly?
