Alan I agree that I've not see it before either. I posted as I've been looking at the TB performance issue for almost a month, doing everything I can find to resolve it. Before narrowing it down to extensions, I followed all the suggestions and tips at Mozillazine for TB performance issues. I've taken apart the profile and put it back together again. Which is when I started thinking about the extensions after starting in Safe Mode a number of times and had a really snappy TB. Obviously it's not TB itself that's having the issue. I've been using the WebMail extensions ...err Add-ons as they are now called, since shortly after they first came out and I dumped Eudora to go back to using TB as my only email client. I sing their praises. Changing frequency of checks does not explain the slow startup. My testing tried just about every combination of extensions enabled/disabled and definitely pointed at the Yahoo extension as having an issue. When it is the only extension disabled, I get fast startups for TB. Then reenabling the Yahoo extension with check on startup enabled and the startup can take up to 85 seconds, Now maybe there is something else I need to change on my setup in order to get a rapid startup again. The suggestion to change the frequency of checks is a good one and is implemented. Also, it's not absolutely necessary to check on startup, but then again, that's an option to be explored. If starting with Yahoo checking on startup creates an issue as TB is booting, then that information should be available to others. It maybe something the author would want to hard code into the extension to ignore if there is some performance conflict with how Yahoo logs in and downloads. I appreciate knowing that not everyone is suffering this problem. Perhaps there are others that have been wondering about it and this post may give them something to try. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Thunderbird Webmail Extension" group.
