Eric, I support your approach when it comes to documentation however you say "How much more simpler can it get than tagging a plugin..." I would say allot simpler.
When someone is discovering TiddlyWiki for the first time they need to grasp the essence of its concepts and not all people discover the real advantages of things such as tagging before there mind ends up consumed with obtaining plugins. Even myself with years of IT experience knew the value of tagging but it was not until FET (or my preferred ( http://jackparke.googlepages.com/jtw.html#TiddlerListMacro) and NewHere plugins was found I confirmed that tiddlywiki's features are open enough to represent almost any type of data or relationships. My concern is the true value of tiddlywiki is always a few plugins away for a novice user, and I suspect many either give it up or restrict their use of it indefinitely because of this need for basic plugins. I am not nessasarly asking for a change in the core/plugin approach though, some cases warent it such as newhear (As it adds a heirachical feature to a network). Nor do I think a plethora of Adaptions is the answer (Although this is a great feature). A small set of plugins that opens up the uses of tiddlywiki, whilst allowing one to adapt or obtain a minimalist tiddlywiki would be good. There is no reason why the minimalist tiddlywki is most suited to the first time user.
