Either solution appears to correct that problem.

Now another has surfaced. There are no auto backups happening. When the 
tiddler saves automatically or when manually saving changes, Chrome offers 
a dialogue box wanting to save the TW file with (1) appenmded to the 
filename. I have a backup folder specified inside the same folder as the TW 
html file. My older TWc 2.6.1 has no problems with the autosave. I cannot 
see the problem.
