I'm not sure how that would work. What would be the trigger for the modal
window?

One other point is that even though making a change in the control panel
doesn't trigger an autosave, the browser will warn if you try to close the
tab before saving changes.

We could add a visual indication that there are unsaved changes pending.
What form might it take?
