Hi everyone! New to the community and very much a user and not a developer.
I last played seriously with TW back in 2008 I think - and things seem to have moved on a lot since then! Here's a quick run through of what I want to be able to do with TW: - I want a web notebook that I can start to replace proprietary products like Evernote - Content I want to be able to store are things like notes from meetings and other activities, draft pieces of writing, a personal journal/activity log, perhaps a way to keep a simple todo list maintained, records of web pages and articles to go back and read - I would like it to be locally stored on my laptop, so it is always available to me - I'd also like it to be publicly viewable *but not editable* on the web, so people can either follow the whole thing, or (more likely) I can ping people links to stuff. - The local copy should sync with the online version automatically, without me needing to do anything So I think a quick and dirty solution would be to host my TW file in Dropbox. However, having had a play this morning, I am confused about how changes are saved, or not saved. In other words, I need to be able to edit my TW but I don't want other people to be able to! I'd also really like to be able to have my TW accessible via a friendly URL, which also perhaps strikes out Dropbox. Maybe my ideal set up would be to have my main TW file on my laptop, with the public copy on a web server somewhere. Every so often, the local copy overwrites the online one in terms of the content, but the online version slightly differs from the local one in that the editing tools are somehow inaccessible. Could this be done with a script on my local machine, perhaps? Am not a coder, so am making stuff up now... Am sure many of you have achieved something along these lines and it would be great to hear from you, and for me to play a part in the community in the future.
