I struggle with some of these concepts <https://youtu.be/SmHl7hKlVj4?t=30s> :-) ...so let me see if I get it.
The strategy is to pick a modest Tiddler title that stays permanent, and then create a Caption that serves as a "display title"...such that when you refer to [[short title]] in a Tiddler, the display is the "caption" and not the "short title". The "caption" can change as the content of the Tiddler changes and hence you want to update the way you refer to the Tiddler to reflect the new content. I tried it and got the [[short title]] and "caption" part to work. I even updated the "caption" in the source Tiddler and links in other Tiddlers I created using [[short title]] reflected the change in the caption. I never got the alias thing to work and don't really understand it...and didn't really pursue the subtitle thing as I didn't think I needed to use either of those at the moment. I can see how this would work. As I think you pointed out, it's not really as desirable as changing the Tiddler title directly. Because even though your changing the displayed title, you now have to keep track of the fact that the actual title and the displayed title are different. I'll keep working at this and see how it goes. I my limited prior experience with Wiki's I was using to collect reference data and notes related to work, I found that building a knowledge repository was evolutionary and I often wound up re-organizing material and morphing the content and title of Wiki entries as my understanding of a topic changed and the grouping of the knowledge contained changed also (e.g., splitting a topic that had grown to have too many dimensions to adhere to the spirit of a Tiddler). I'm not sure how much of a problem this might be. I'll just have to work with TiddlyWiki some more and see how it goes.
