Hello Felix, Let me know what do you think about this:
https://github.com/danielo515/TiddlyDrive/issues/5 I think it is good that you try to be clear about what your plugin should > provide. Better one tool for one thing than a bloated multitool. You are right here. Also I want to provide some kind of plugin mechanism to create new plugins on top of the core one. > > - If you think of your program as "backup (upload) and restore > (download)" mechanism (just a way to interpret your plugin), then there is > *never* a new version on the server. and the download only restores an > older version. Instead of bacups, you can think of a sharing mechanism > where you only push changes to a server and people may read them if they > want, but no active syncing from the server. > > To be honest, what I wanted at a first instance was to avoid the problems of syncing the whole html file with services like dropbox: you create new tiddlers on some machine, you create new tiddlers on another device, you sync the file, some tiddlers are lost. So I think the second part of your definition fits better what I wanted. The backup thing is a side effect of google drive that allows you to have multiple files with the same title within the same folder, and I like it. > - Checking for new versions: this would go in the direction of > syncing, not backup. Then you would say, the tiddler on the server got > updated from another machine and now all machines need to show the update. > > Yes, you are right. I think I did not explained myself well at all. This is syncing, but not only to server side. I understand it as a local program that syncs to the cloud. Other machines need to show the update, but you are not forced to download it. As a side effect, this can be used as a server side for TW, that was not the intention, but I don't dislike the idea.
