When the editor toolbar is enabled, the text editor uses an IFRAME to 
encapsulate the edit field.  By isolating the edit field within the IFRAME, 
it maintains it's own focus and thus the cursor position is unchanged.  
Otherwise, clicking on a toolbar item would "steal the focus" from the edit 
field, thereby losing the cursor position.  Perhaps something can be done 
by using "onBlur" event handing to capture the cursor position and use that 
when processing an editor toolbar button?
