I'll try that, but doesn't that mean that the client will starting striping 
at 16 instead of 17?  Will it decrease the memory usage?

Max is set to 6 - 8,000,000 on most of the clients.  I'll try setting it 
lower I guess.  Seems a waste though on a machine that _could_ do more that 
that.
