I wanted to have them somewhere, where most users are not tempted to fiddle with them. Therefore tilesAtHome.conf was out. general.conf did fit the bill so I stuck it there. I didn't know that setting in general.conf can't be overwritten with tilesAtHome.conf if necessary. If you want to move it to config.defaults that is fine with me.
