The historical temporal SQL table data should only be necessary for audit and security. The historical PDF+metadata should only be necessary for meeting financial accountability legal requirements. If you had enough metadata it could also be used for reporting purposes for previous closed periods. The trickiest part of the issue is trying to use the historical data for reporting purposes. You have to retrieve it from the immutable source which usually isn't your primary SQL tables. Is usually your PDF+metadata tables but could perhaps be your secondary SQL tables under very strict conditions. The secondary tables must be setup in a way such that no changes can be made by ANYBODY for any reason for prior period data.
