yes, your right, but this is already possible with a audit trail on a specific
table. Your proposed solution is another one that is currently not available.
It is possible to create a new session to read the audit trail file in such a
manner that it is easily readable and search able.

Why do you want a separate set of PDF files reflecting the past state, while
you can have it in the system itself?
Now someone can reprint the PDF file which reflect the old state from the saved
PDF, but also could generate the old PDF from the system with possible changed
data. Resulting in 2 the same documents with different data on it. Confusing.

My added comment was not to offend anybody, just to input into this discussion
how a big proprietary firm is handling this issue successful (as this was one
of the questions asked for some postings before.) Right, by putting all
necessary data directly into the table that the LEGAL BUSINESS DOCUMENTS
stores.
OpenERP should do the same imho, for all legal documents you should have all
legal data directly in your database, instead of separately stored PDF files.

Feasible solution for the short term? No , I don't think so as commented in my
previous post. Earliest for the next release. So for now I do agree with you
Gerry, but it is not the way for a definitive solution as I see it.

With kind regards,
Jan
