I don't clearly see which metadata should be included in the PDF of an invoice. 
Should we store all the data that the invoice is composed of - partners, prices 
etc ?
If so, why store it outside the OpenERP data model ?

I'd find it much easier have the contact data copied into the invoice header.
I know it's not totally normalized but aren't temporal data just overkill for 
what we need ?
After all, we already keep copies of most information concerning products 
already : prices, descriptions, subtotal, taxes and so on.

Or can't we setup a kind of copy-on-write system for partners and contacts ? 
For exemple if you want to change a contact participating in an invoice, then 
openobject could let you change only a fresh copy of it, and set the old 
resource as inactive.
