Hi. OpenERP as a complete solution still has some distance before it arrives.
Many unanswered questions (some very trivial) do not augur very well for the project. And it's ridiculous to ask people to buy support to have their questions answered. This is not the best way to grow a community. Maybe OpenERP need to borrow a leaf from other thriving communities (cf. JBoss) on how to earn revenue from support and still grow the community without compromising either. Some of the developers tend to be defensive which is not good for future of the project. Referrals to launchpad/bzr are unhelpful to beginners and/or non-developers. Over last six months there has been some bright suggestions on the list on how to move the software to the next level. Some of them have been implemented and this has been helpful. But many of ideas not yet. If critical issues/questions, suggestions/ideas continue to be ignored, most people will be on the project for lack of a better alternative. But as soon as a better solution appears in the horizon there will be an exodus from OpenERP. And it might be too late. The managers of OpenERP do not have to wait for this. The application is so far very good but only needs to get a bit more polish. Version 5 came a long way but there's still more to do. My 25 cents. Mugoma, Yengas.
