... but the dependencies from some of the projects can get
awkward.
I quite agree...BUT....

IMHO, open source implementations need to work with each other, providing
integration through web-services/soap etc., so that coding for integration is
not required.....an application to application connector that uses service
infrastructure should suffice.

You are all valuable people....giving your time to open projects...without you
guys people like me cannot even think of deploying ERP or other similar
software in my office. Today if I am thinking of finding out feasibility of
deploying an ERP in my SME office, its entirely due to the open source paradigm.

So, every project trying to code every module is inefficient use of
resources....that's what we are trying to do with openERP....trying to make
efficient use of resources (people doing open source coding)? isn't it?

I agree if the software being integrated does not expose a full-fledged API for
integration and does not have a compatible licensing, it ought not to be
considered, but if it does...why not utilize it and know that there is another
user community out there, thats the best of its breed and it is adding features
to at least one of your modules and all you need to do is keep the connector
uptodate.

These are my thoughts and these are not only about Alfresco and openERP, they
are about all best of the breed open source software out there.

With regards.
Sanjay.
