I agree with sraps, the heart of an ERP software are the accounting and financial modules. It is really incredible that OpenERP is so "unbalanced" in this respect: a framework of exquisite work and on the other hand accounting / financial modules hardly usable.
The funny thing is that the accounting (ignoring issues of location) is just the more standard circuit that can be found in any company anywhere in the world: debit / credit, accounts, journal, ledger, balance ...
